We were pleased to receive the news that His Majesty King Charles III will be the new Royal Patron of the Institute with immediate effect. This follows a recent review of Royal Patronages conducted by the Royal Household. For seven decades, CGI was proud to have the support of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who became our Patron in 1952. The Institute has held Royal Patronage since King Edward VII became the first Patron in 1902 and we are delighted that this will continue. It recognises the importance of governance and honours the important role that governance professionals play in our society.

ICSA: The Chartered Governance Institute’s annual essay writing competition, the Tom Morrison Essay Prize, is now underway and running until 1 April 2021. We have a first prize of £1,000 and a second prize of £500 on offer. The theme of this year’s Prize is as follows: "Post-COVID-19, what does the concept of ‘building back better’ mean for governance professionals?"

Tom Morrison Essay Prize

ICSA: The Governance Institute is running an essay writing competition called the Tom Morrison Essay Prize. Now in its third year, the competition launched this Monday (8 Jan) and will run until Monday 19 March 2018. It is open to ICSA students, law students and business students, recent graduates and people at the start of their governance careers (2 years max in a role).
